Our Philosophy

The philosophy of Poppy Farm is deeply rooted in compassion, understanding, and the belief in the potential of every child.

DONATE NOW
Belief in Children's Potential: The belief that all children inherently want to succeed aligns with our strengths-based approach, emphasizing each child's capabilities rather than focusing solely on their challenges. By acknowledging that some children may lack certain skills, Poppy Farm aims to provide the necessary support and resources to help them thrive. Belief in Parents: Poppy Farm recognizes the efforts of parents and acknowledges that they are doing their very best with the knowledge and resources available to them. We want to foster empathy and collaboration between the farm and families, aiming to support parents in their journey of raising and nurturing their children.
Belief in Educators: Poppy Farm recognizes the vital role of educators in shaping children's lives and fostering their growth and development. This belief underscores the importance of providing educators with the support, training, and resources they need to effectively teach our children. By investing in educators and valuing their expertise, Poppy Farm ensures that the team is equipped to create enriching learning experiences and foster positive relationships that contribute to children's overall well-being and success. Emphasis on Relationship-Based Learning: Poppy Farm values the importance of nurturing positive relationships between educators, children, and their families. This relational approach recognizes that meaningful connections foster trust, engagement, and deeper learning experiences for children. Appreciation for Nature: Recognizing the inherent value of spending time outdoors in nature, Poppy Farm provides an environment where children can freely explore, connect with the natural world, and express themselves authentically. Nature serves as a powerful backdrop for learning and personal growth, offering unique opportunities for discovery and self-expression. Importance of Animal Relationships: By cultivating relationships with animals, Poppy Farm believes that children can develop essential life skills and character traits. Interacting with animals fosters self-regulation, empathy, responsibility, and resilience; equipping children with valuable tools to navigate challenges and thrive in various aspects of their lives. Through these core beliefs, Poppy Farm strives to create a supportive and enriching environment where every child has the opportunity to flourish and reach their full potential.

Our Vision

Raise Funds
We hope to raise enough funds to purchase approximately 5 acres and outbuildings, etc. needed. This will allow for good animal welfare and our children to have the opportunity to receive mental health services alongside animals and in nature.
Animal Welfare
We are committed to raising happy and healthy animals at Poppy Farm. We will abide by the 5 Domains: Nutrition, Environment, Health, Behavior, & Mental State. (Mellor et al, 2020)
Our Children
We will provide mental health services alongside AAE and nature therapy for children at no cost to families. We hope to partner with school districts through a lense of connection and equity to reach students who are not responding to mental health interventions in traditional spaces.
Grow together
Together we will nurture emotional resilience, equip children with essential skills, and focus on fostering a sense of connection for a brighter future.
